Sustainable Business Council

The Miami Beach Chamber of Commerce Sustainable
Business Committee will actively work to improve our community’s
quality of life by promoting actions that protect our environment,
while promoting energy independence, greater utilization of cost-efficient
and energy-efficient technologies, and sustainable long-term growth.
We envision an environmentally responsible, healthy and prosperous
community that embraces sustainable tenets in all aspects of our
lives.
Education as Business Council

The Miami Beach Chamber of Commerce Education and Business Council
works closely with principals, teachers, parents, administrators,
students and Chamber businesses. The Committee provides a forum
where education issues can be discussed among school system decision
makers and local businesses in order to improve Miami Beach’s
public and private schools. The mission of the committee is to unite
the business and education communities of Miami Beach for the benefit
of the City’s businesses and residents.
Some of the Committee’s accomplishments include an education
brochure for realtors, formation of the Miami Beach High School
Construction Advisory Committee in collaboration with the Government
Affairs Committee, and awarding the Elayne Weisburd Excellence
in Education Award, to the Chamber’s Miami Beach Teacher
of the Year. The Chamber was named to the 2003 Miami Today, Best

Women' s Business Council
Chair - Michelle Villalobos, MiVista Inc.
The mission of the Women’s Business Council of the Miami Beach
Chamber of Commerce is to educate, empower, mentor and promote women’s
businesses, projects & causes, while building membership for
the Chamber.
Through these activities, the Women’s Business
Council and its members will become a highly recognized and empowered
group leading to enhanced quality of life and economic growth.
Advocacy Council

The mission of the Advocacy Council is to inform and educate MBCC's
membership on governmental issues that affect our business community.
Our goal is to respond in a proactive manner that will benefit and
enhance the quality of life of our community at large.

Emerging Leadership Council

The Emerging Leadership Council (ELC) is a selective group
of young professionals who are leaders in their profession. Their
role as council members prepares them for future leadership roles
within the Miami Beach Chamber of Commerce. The members reach out
to new members of the Miami Beach Chamber of Commerce. They work
to promote, encourage and generate relationships through strategic
introductions. The members reinforce the value of the Chamber membership
and agree to always represent the business community in a highly
professional manner.

The Matters Program:
The Emerging Leadership Council’s Matters Program is a professional
setting luncheon that informs business leaders on strategies and
tips that help maximize one’s business. The Matters Program
has included subjects such as Hospitality Matters, Branding Matters,
Money Matters, Facebook Matters, Etiquette Matters and Guerilla
Marketing Matters.
Champions of Business:
The ELC also hosts an annual panel luncheon called Champions of
Business that is a forum for attendees to meet and learn from pillars
of business from South Florida and beyond. Panelists have included
Jill Hertzberg, Broker-Associate of The Jills, Coldwell Banker Real
Estate, Barton G. Weiss, Owner of Barton G., Peggy M. Hollander,
Founder and Managing Partner of The Succession Group, Dr. Arthur
Agatston, Founder of the South Beach Diet, Lisa Pliner, Creative
Director of Donald Pliner Shoes and Alan G. Randolph, Past MBCC
Chair.
“Quickie” Networkers:
A new program the ELC started is the “Quickie” Networkers.
The networker is setup in a speed-dating style which consists of
a quick introduction, after which the business professionals are
put into pairs and given two minutes to talk about their business
prior to moving to the next person. The networker gives members
and guests the opportunity to meet thirty professionals in only
one hour.
Miami Arts and Design Council
Vision : To make the
Miami Arts & Design District one of the most desired and prosperous
locales in which to do business in all of South Florida.
Mission : The MBCC strives
to maximize synergies between Miami Beach and the Miami Arts &
Design District through its membership benefits and access to its
programs, events and committees:
- Providing a voice for its members to address key
issues with local government and neighborhood associations.
- Creating a network in which its members can share
ideas and develop new contacts with 1100 members.
- Bringing the resources and value of MBCC membership
to support businesses in the Design District, Midtown,
Wynwood and neighboring Biscayne Boulevard.
Tourism & Hospitality Council

Global Business Access Council
The success of our mission to Beijing and Shanghai in 2006-2007
resulted in the launch of this global business access network. The
goal is to enhance our international relations through business,
education and cultural exchange.
Mid-March 2009 Miami Beach Mayor Matti Hererra Bower along with
representatives from the Miami Beach Chamber of Commerce and the
City of Miami Beach traveled to Fujisawa, Japan for the continued
celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Sister City Program.
The Miami Beach delegates was in Fujisawa for five days and visited
government offices, shrines, attend ceremonies and the capital Tokyo.
In October 2010, President & CEO, Jerry Libbin, and 25 representatives
from the City of Miami Beach visited Shanghai, China to continue
the mission of enhancing our internaional relations. The Miami Beach
delegation meet with leaders from different countries at the World
Expo, visited the Shanghai Museum and other cultural spots, met
with the Editor-in-chief of Travel and Leisure Shanghai, travelled
to see and meet with the Director of the Shanghai Port, and much
more. The trip was a 7 day trip and was led by the Shanghai People's
Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries.
