SoBe Arts is looking for housing for 6 opera singers!
SoBe Arts needs help finding housing for six very interesting and talented professional opera singers who are coming from New York City to Miami Beach on February 9 through the final performance (four weeks). Do you have, or know someone who has a spare room or a house/condo that is not being used at that time? We have 3 rooms offered by very generous hosts, but are still looking for 3 more. They will be performing in what promises to be one of South Florida's most significant cultural milestones: the world premiere of the soundtheater/opera HAMLET at SoBe Arts.

All host families will be given complementary tickets to this extraordinary event as well as invitations to attend some rehearsals and follow the progress of the production (Sponsors can get tax-deductions and promotional opportunities through the show which is already gathering national attention).

Long time Chamber Member Matthew Krieger launches Discovery Miami Beach
“Self guided audio tour features 29 South Beach destinations”

For those who want to know more about the history of Miami Beach`s Art Deco hotels, restaurants and theatres, or even where the chainsaw massacre scene was filmed for the movie “Scarface”, Miami Beach attorney Matthew Krieger and former restaurateur Jackey Korn have the answer.

They recently launched Discovery Miami Beach, a self guided audio tour that features 29 South Beach destinations. What sets this tour apart, they say, is that it can be taken at your leisure by foot, bike, car or bus.

The company has teamed with DecoBike, Miami Beach`s bike sharing program; Big Bus Tours; and the Miami Design Preservation League.

Sabrina Cohen won the “Overcoming Adversity" category in the America Inspired Contest!
Health activist Sabrina Cohen has won $10,000 for her stem cell research foundation in America Inspired, the national contest that celebrates extraordinary people across the US.

Sabrina shared in $100,000 in prizes. Marathon runner Heidki Kinoshito won the $50,000 grand prize, and Sabrina was one of the four other $10,000 winners! The best news is all these winners are using the money for their favorite charity!

Deadline For E-Ratefundingcampaign To Secure Federal Funds For Classroom Technology Upgrades Extended To March 20
Miami-Dade County Public Schools announced today that the deadline for submitting donations to the E-rate Funding Campaign “Bringing Wireless to the Classroom” has been extended to March 20, 2012. The campaign, launched last November by The Foundation for New Education Initiatives, the nonprofit organization supporting Miami-Dade Schools, originally had a January 31 deadline.
